Dear Honorable
Members of the Parliament:
Ref.
Motion No. 482. Armenian Lobby attempts to
table bill in the House of Commons.
I have read
the views of some of the Honorable Members, which seem to
have been drafted by the aggressive Armenian Lobby which has
been very influential in distorting historical facts. While
views of some Armenian Historians were noted in the debate,
the views of other historians who disagree were excluded.
Some of the views expressed have already been proven by historians
to be false These contrasting views on claimed “facts” have
been completely neglected in this account.
I was unable
to find a single reference in the debate concerning the fact
that about half a million "Ottoman Muslims" were
massacred by Armenian
militants who were armed and supported by Imperial Russia
and France whose armies occupied the East and South east of
the Ottoman Empire. In fact, the massacres were started by
the Armenian militants and a counter-attack took place by local Muslim residents and the
nationalist empire leaders conducted forced relocation of
the Armenians in one of the bloodiest and saddest conflicts
in history. This conflict reduced the population of the once
large Ottoman Empire to about 12 million by the end of the
Great War. The massacres
of Muslims were not taken into account in those days since
they were not considered to be worthy of account by the missionary-dominated
Christian Colonial powers during the Great War.
You will discover that every Muslim household, mainly
ethnic Kurds and Turks in Anatolia, lost family members during
the Armenian conflict. The
way in which Muslims were killed by Armenian militants was
not forgotten by most Muslim members of present-day Turkey,
albeit in large part due to the Modern Turkish government's
resolution for its citizens not to dwell on the atrocities
committed by both Armenian and Muslim members of the Ottoman
Empire, a fragile attempt for them to live in peace and harmony
again in the 1920s.
There
are a considerable number of Turkish Canadians who
live in Canada. Due to the large ethnic and political diversity
of Turkish immigrants, they have not formed aggressive lobbies comparable to the Armenian
Lobby in Canada and the US.
However, our community is significantly large and growing,
and we have been most disappointed by being targeted relentlessly
by racist and terrorist acts of militant Armenian lobbyists
in Canada. We were also very much dismayed that some of the
members of Parliament fail to see anything wrong with bringing
a century-old conflict to further the tensions between Armenian
Canadians and Turkish Canadians.. It is doubtful that Canadian
politicians have anything to gain in strengthening ethnic
nationalism in Canada. I would like to suggest that those
politicians who court such militant nationalism may become
tools of lobbyists and may eventually be disgraced by the
peaceful majority of multiethnic, multicultural Canadians.
